Linda Larkin, Harpist

With Masters Degrees in Music and Social Work, Linda has a varied and ever-growing resume of successful teaching, performing, composing and directing in the US and abroad.

Since 1996, she has gained a reputation as a folk harpist, playing a variety of classical, popular, Celtic, Latin and sacred music. Her performances for weddings, private musicales, conferences, gallery openings and other celebrations also include harp music for hospice patients.

Her published music includes meditative chants and harp ensemble compositions which are being performed around the globe. She is a presenter of music workshops at regional, national and international conferences.

As the founding director of High Desert Harps, a performing group of 10 harpists, Linda directs the ensemble in offering delightful programs for a variety of occasions. She currently maintains an active harp studio in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE:
Numerous solo performances at weddings, parties and concerts, workshops,     businesses, retirement centers, churches,  private homes and all major hotels.
Numerous duo and trio engagements with flute and harp and three harps.
Meditative music in hospital settings and for hospice patients.
Featured Performer at Santa Fe Opera Opening Gala.

REPERTOIRE:
Familiar classical tunes, including Pachelbel Canon in D, numerous Bach selections,
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Handel and Chopin.
Extensive repertoire appropriate for weddings: Prelude (Usually a 20 minute mix of
elegant Classical, Renaissance and Baroque tunes),  Bridal Processional,      Special Music selected by bride and groom, soft Background Music played     during a reading or ritual, and final Recessional.
Varied play list of traditional Celtic tunes, ballads and upbeat jigs.
Popular Latin American tunes such as “Cuando Caliente el Sol”,  “Besame Mucho”.
Many medieval hits of beauty and appeal such as “Greensleeves”.

RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Pianist, Composer,  Presenter at many regional and national harp conferences.
Teacher of harp, piano, chant.
Founding Director of High Desert Harp Ensemble.  Performance venues include     Gallery openings, Renaissance Fairs, Museum of Folk Art, Museum of Fine Art,     Christmas at the Palace,  Loretto Chapel, The Cathedral Basilica, all major     hotels,  El Castillo and  Ponce de Leon.
